Front Assist on the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 activates automatically once the ignition is switched on — no manual button press needed. This page explains that automatic behaviour, and notes that deactivating Front Assist also disables the prior and distance warnings that depend on it.

First read and observe the introductory information and safety warnings

The area monitoring system (Front Assist) is automatically active once the ignition is switched on   .

The prior warning and distance warning are automatically deactivated when Front Assist is deactivated.

Volkswagen recommends that Front Assist is switched on at all times. Exceptions   .

Activating and deactivating the area monitoring system

  • Using the button for driver assist systems, select the corresponding menu option   .

The advanced warning can be activated or deactivated using the  button and the and Driver assistance function buttons in the infotainment system   .

The system also retains the programmed setting when the ignition is next switched on.
