Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing wheel housing trim, estate

Using wedges -T10383- and torque wrench -V.A.G 1783-, this page covers removing the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 estate wheel housing trim on the left side (right is similar), with a variant for vehicles with side padding.

  Note
Removal and installation are described for the left vehicle side. Follow same instructions for the right side as appropriate.

Removing
Vehicles with side padding
–  Remove side padding  → Chapter.

Removing and installing wheel housing trim, estate

Vehicles without side padding
–  Remove bench seat → Chapter.
–  Unscrew nut -2-.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Release sill panel moulding in area of overlap to wheel housing trim from body and from wheel housing trim → Chapter.
–  Fold down rear seat backrest.
–  Release wheel housing trim -1- from C-pillar trim -4- using wedge -T10383-.
–  Release wheel housing trim -1- in area of retaining clips -3- from body mountings using wedge -T10383-.
 
Installing
  Note
  •   Before installing, check all fasteners for damage and renew if necessary.
  •   Remove any retaining clips -3- left in body mountings using removal tool -T40280-, and fit them in wheel housing trim for installation.
  •   Following installation, ensure that the wheel housing trim is positioned in the door seal beading.
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
