Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Repairing lock carrier. Left headlight mounting

This page gives the repair procedure for a broken left headlight mounting tab on the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 lock carrier — cutting or sawing off the damaged mounting, fitting a threaded rivet and a new retaining bracket — following removal of the front bumper cover and headlights.

  Note
Line -2- indicates the position where the tab might break off.

Left headlight mounting

–  Remove front bumper cover → Chapter.
–  Remove headlights → Electrical system; Rep. gr.94.
–  Make a straight cut to cut or saw headlight mounting -4- off lock carrier -1-.
–  Fit threaded rivet -5-.
–  Fit new retaining bracket -6- with speed nut -7-.
–  Tighten bolt -8-.
