Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing electronically controlled damping control unit -J250-, saloon

Using the vehicle diagnostic tester, this page covers removing the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 DCC control unit -J250- — located behind the left luggage compartment side trim.

Special tools and workshop equipment required
Vehicle diagnostic tester
Removing
Location: electronically controlled damping control unit -J250- is installed behind left luggage compartment side trim.
–  Disconnect battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Pull out ignition key.
Vehicles with keyless entry and start system “Keyless Access”
–  Switch off ignition and open driver's door so that the steering lock engages.
Continuation for all vehicles
–  Remove left luggage compartment side trim → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.
   
–  Release release lever -1- in -direction of arrow-.
–  Pull off electrical connector -2-.
–  Press lugs -3- and -4- to rear.
–  Slide electronically controlled damping control unit -J250--5- downwards out of retainer -6-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
–  Function Replace control unit must be performed with → Vehicle diagnostic tester if electronically controlled damping control unit -J250- has been renewed.
–  If the reference position has been re-adapted, the front camera for driver assist systems must be recalibrated on vehicles with lane departure warning function → Chapter „Calibrating front camera for driver assist systems“.
