Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing lower steering column trim

Using torque wrench -V.A.G 1783-, this page covers removing the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 lower steering column trim — remove the upper trim first, and the ignition key if necessary, before unscrewing the bolts.

Removing
–  Remove upper steering column trim → Chapter.
–  If necessary, remove ignition key.

Removing and installing lower steering column trim

–  Unscrew bolts -1- from lower steering column trim. To do this, turn steering wheel accordingly.
–  Remove lower steering column trim -2- from steering column.
–  On vehicles with keyless locking and starting system disconnect connector for immobiliser reader coil -D2-.
 
Installing
  Note
Before installing, check all fasteners for damage and renew if necessary.
Installation is carried out in reverse order.
