Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Switching off auxiliary and supplementary heater

The Volkswagen Golf Mk7 auxiliary/supplementary heater ends combustion and enters a run-on mode when the instant heat button is pressed again, the preset operating time expires, or coolant reaches 88°C — this page explains that shutdown sequence.

If the button instant heat button has been pressed, or after the preset operating time has expired or the coolant has reached a temperature of 88° C, the combustion is ended and the run-on mode begins. The circulation pump -V55- and the combustion air blower -V6-, however, continue to run to cool down the heater (run-on mode) and are switched off automatically.
  Note
The run-on period of the circulation pump -V55- and the combustion air blower -V6- depends on the operating mode in which the auxiliary and supplementary heater was switched off.
The run-on period is approx. 3 minutes.
Depending on the control unit software version, slight deviations in the specified run-on values are possible.
