Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing gas discharge bulb -L13-/-L14-

WARNING: risk of death from high voltage, plus injury and environmental pollution risk — observe the gas discharge bulb safety notes before removing bulb -L13-/-L14- on the Volkswagen Golf Mk7.

WARNING Risk of death due to high voltage! Risk of injury and environmental pollution! Observe operation and safety notes for gas discharge bulbs → Chapter.   Note Removal and installation are described for the left side. Removal and installation on the right side are carried out in the same way. Removing –  Remove headlight → Chapter.

–  Unscrew bolts -2- from housing cover -1-. –  Remove housing cover -1-.

–  Press locking lug -1- in direction of arrow -A- to disconnect connector -2-.

–  Turn locking mechanism -1- in direction of arrow -A-. –  Pull gas discharge bulb -2- out of housing in direction of arrow -B-. Installing Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:   Caution Risk of damage to the headlight. Do not touch the glass part of the bulb with bare fingers. Fingers leave traces of grease on the glass bulb, which vaporise when the bulb is switched on and cause the glass bulb to cloud over. Wear, for example, clean fabric gloves when inserting bulbs. Make sure the housing cover is correctly seated when installing. The ingress of water will lead to permanent damage to the headlight.   Note Installation position: connector faces downwards. –  Test functionality. –  Check headlight setting and adjust headlight if necessary → Booklet36.1 Specified torques → Chapter „Assembly overview - headlight“

Removing and installing side light bulb -M1-/-M3- (dual halogen headlights)   Note The left side light bulb -M1- or right side light bulb -M3- is integrated in the left headlight main beam bulb -M30- or right headlight main beam bulb -M32-, respectively. –  Removing and installing side light bulb -M1-/-M3- → Chapter „Removing and installing headlight main beam bulb -M30-/-M32- (dual halogen headlights)“.
