    Questions & answers

Controls for the heating and fresh air system — Volkswagen Golf Mk7

What is the Golf Mk7 heating and fresh air system?
The base-level climate system without air conditioning. It has rotary dials for temperature and fan speed, and a lever or dial for air distribution — but no AC compressor for cooling.
Can the Golf Mk7 heating-only system demist the windscreen?
Yes. Set the distribution to windscreen, turn the temperature to warm, and increase the fan speed. Without an AC compressor the dehumidification is slower than on cars with air conditioning.
Is there a recirculation mode on the Golf Mk7 heating-only system?
Yes. A recirculation button or lever closes the fresh air intake. The manual warns not to leave it on for too long, as the air becomes stale and windows can mist up.
