Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing front air distribution flap actuation unit, heater and air conditioning system with electric/manual controls, RHD vehicles

This page covers removing the RHD Volkswagen Golf Mk7 front air distribution flap actuation unit — remove the dash panel central tube and defroster vent duct, then unbolt the control motor first.

Removing
–  Remove dash panel central tube → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.
–  Remove air duct for defroster vent → Chapter.
–  Unbolt air distribution flap control motor → Chapter.
   
–  Carefully press off actuating lever -7--arrow-.
–  Carefully press actuating lever -3- off defroster flap lever -2-.
–  Unscrew bolts -1-, -4- and -8-.
–  Remove actuation unit -9- upwards.
Installing
–  Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:

Check operation of flaps and hinge mechanism before fitting.
Make sure levers and shafts are properly fitted in the mounts.

–  Check that the two gear wheels are correctly aligned.
The rectangular tooth -2- must engage in the gap -3- of the gear wheel -1-.

–  When fitting actuation unit, actuating lever -5- must engage in lever -6- of centre vent flap.
Specified torque
→ Chapter „Assembly overview - heater and air conditioning unit“
Assembly overview - dash panel central tube → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.
