Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Owners Manual: Programming the auxiliary heater
Before programming the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 auxiliary heater, check that the vehicle's date and time are set correctly — this page explains why, then walks through opening the Auxiliary heater menu in the infotainment system to schedule the heater to start automatically ahead of a planned departure.

Before programming, check that the date and time set in the vehicle are correct .
The auxiliary heater can be programmed via the Auxiliary heater menu in the infotainment system.
Opening the Auxiliary heater menu
Air conditioning system (manual):
- Press the
infotainment button.
- Touch the
function button.
For Climatronic:
- Press the
button in the Climatronic controls.
- OR: press the
infotainment button. Use the right-hand rotary/push
knob to select and open the Air conditioning menu.
- Touch the
function button.

be heated or ventilated when the auxiliary heater is switched on. You can

| Departure time 1 | You can programme 3 different departure times (hh.mm). If you only want to switch the auxiliary heater on for a certain day of the week, you can select the day of the week in addition to the departure time. | |

| Operating duration | The operating duration sets the running time for the
auxiliary heater when the system is switched on with the remote control
or the immediate heat button in the air conditioning
controls. The operating duration is also used for calculating the air conditioning
(manual) departure time. The running time is 10 to 60 minutes and can be
set in 10-minute intervals. |

Air conditioning (manual): the programmed departure time determines the time at which the auxiliary heater should switch off. The point at which the auxiliary heater begins the heating process depends on the programmed operating period.
Climatronics: the programmed departure time determines the time at which the set temperature should be reached in the vehicle. The point at which the auxiliary heater begins the heating process is determined automatically in relation to the exterior temperature.
Programming check
If a departure time has been activated, the indicator lamp in the immediate heat
button
will light up for approximately ten seconds
after the ignition is switched off.
