Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing cap

Using assembly tool -T10389-, this page covers removing the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 rear door handle cap by inserting the tool approximately 44 mm into the door behind the handle bracket's locking hook, then pulling it back roughly 5 mm to release the cap.

Removing and installing cap

–  Remove plugs -3-.
–  Insert assembly tool -T10389- approx. 44 mm into the door behind locking hook -2- of the door handle bracket.
–  Pull assembly tool -T10389- approx. 5 mm backwards -arrow- until hook is detached.
–  Pull door handle off door.
–  Pull cover cap -1- out of door handle bracket.

 

Installing

–  Pull door handle -2- off door.
–  Push cover cap -1- into door handle bracket.
–  Insert flat-bladed screwdriver -4- approx. 40 mm into door handle bracket until locking hook -3- is reached.
–  Press cap -1- onto door.
–  Push screwdriver approx. 5 mm into hole -arrow- until hook locks in place.
–  Insert plug -5-.
