This assembly overview covers the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 underride guard (skid plate), removed by taking out its bolts on both sides and pulling it backward off the lock carrier.

  Note
The removal and installation procedures may have to be modified slightly depending on engine fitted.

Assembly overview - skid plate

1 -  Underride guard
  • Removing
–  Remove bolts -2-, -3- and -4-.
–  Pull out noise insulation off lock carrier to the back.
2 -  Bolt
  • Qty. 2 each on left and right
  • 20 Nm
3 -  Bolt
  • Qty. 3 on left
  • Qty. 4 on right
  • 2.0 Nm
4 -  Bolt
  • Micro-encapsulated; renew after each removal
  • Qty. 3
  • 20 Nm
5 -  Skid plate bracket
  • Left and right.
6 -  Bolt
  • Qty. 1 on each side
  • 20 Nm
