Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Owners Manual: Sun visors

Fig. 84 shows the Golf Mk7 sun visor in its two working positions: folded down over the windscreen, or pulled out of its bracket and swung over towards the side window. A vanity mirror with its own light sits behind the visor cover — this page explains how to use both the visor and the mirror light.

Various positions for the driver and front passenger sun visors:

  • Folded down over the windscreen.
  • Pulled out of the bracket and swung over towards the door  .

Vanity mirror light

A vanity mirror is located behind a cover on the folded down sun visor. When you open the cover  , a lamp ① lights up.

The lamp goes out when the vanity mirror cover is pushed back or the sun visor is folded upwards or rotated forwards as far as it will go.

In certain circumstances, the lamp above the sun visor will go out automatically after a few minutes. This prevents the battery from discharging.

    Questions & answers

Sun visors — Volkswagen Golf Mk7

What positions can the Golf Mk7 sun visor be set to?
The visor can be folded down over the windscreen, pulled out of the bracket and swung sideways over the door window, or stowed up in the bracket.
Does the Golf Mk7 sun visor have a light for the vanity mirror?
On equipped models, a small light illuminates the vanity mirror when you open its cover. The light switches off when you close the cover or fold the visor back up.
Can I adjust the Golf Mk7 sun visor height?
No. The pivot point is fixed. You can only fold it down, swing it sideways, or stow it in the bracket. For fine adjustment, tilt it at an angle that blocks the sun without restricting your forward view.
