Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing trailer detector control unit -J345-

Note: select "Renew" via Guided Fault Finding when replacing this control unit. This page covers removing the trailer detector control unit -J345- — switch off the ignition first.

  Note
When renewing the control unit, select Renew function for the respective control unit in Guided fault finding or Guided functions mode → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
Removing
–  Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers.
–  If ignition key is present, disengage in position 0 (locked).
–  Remove luggage compartment side trim (left-side) → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70.
   
–  Press retaining clips -1- together in direction of arrow -A-.
–  Remove trailer detector control unit -J345--3-.
–  Disconnect connectors -2-.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Following installation, a new trailer detector control unit -J345- must be encoded → Anchor.
Coding trailer detector control unit
–  Connect vehicle diagnostic tester.
–  Code trailer detector control unit → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
